8 months old!

This post is late, so I will have to try to remember :)

Happy 8 months! You are growing up so fast and becoming more interactive every day. 

Stats: no appt this month, wearing 6 and 9 month clothes, size 2 or 3 diapers depending on brand.

Sleep: started sleeping with white noise this month since you kept waking up when you heard things. Capable of sleeping about 11 hours at night. Teething had you waking up in the middle of the night or early morning often though.

Naps: at the end of the month you started trying to drop the 5pm catnap. This led to many tired days and lots of nap fighting. Again, teething has been messing up naps.

Teeth: Kaylee now has 2 bottom and 2 top teeth. The top teeth coming in was really rough on everyone!

Eating: nursing 4-5 times a day, takes a sippy cup for the sitter like a champ, starting to eat thicker purées and more food from our plates instead of baby food. This girl loves to eat! She pretty much likes everything we give her! 

Firsts: airplane ride (she did great!), wedding, spend the night in nana and papa's hotel room, apple picking, Halloween 

Don't look at me...I don't know a thing!

Milestones: two upper teeth, hair is growing, getting on hands and knees...so close to crawling!

Favorites: playing chase (well, watching chase), swinging, stroller rides, veggie tales videos, caterpillar toy, shape sorter toy

7 months old!

Kaylee is such a joy and really showing her little personality now.

Stats: no doctor appt this month, so we don't know an exact weight. 3-6 month and 6 month clothes, size 2 diapers, size 3 overnight diapers

Sleep: not predictably sleeping through the night any more...who knows what this is about. Some days still waking up early and refusing to go back to sleep...other days waking up in the middle of the night.

Naps: Kaylee is doing much better with naps with a lot less fussing. You can actually rock her to sleep now and usually put her down in the crib. She still does pretty well with the morning nap after about an hour and a half of wake time and usually takes a catnap around 5pm. The middle of the day is a toss up and depends what we are doing.

Eating: nursing 4-5 times per day depending when she wakes up, usually around every 4 hours. She also eats three meals of solids per day now and is eating us out of house and home! She is mostly eating thick purées with the occasional food off of our plates. She usually has fruit and oatmeal for breakfast, about 4-5 cubes for lunch, and up to 10 cubes for dinner. She is a hungry little monkey!

Firsts: lots of new foods, trip to wintergreen, trip to Charlotte, time swinging, teeth! (Bottom two came in at the same time just after turning six months old)

Favorites: ring stacker, riding on dad's shoulders, Maggie 

Nicknames: smallsy, kayleebug, k bug, Kaylee bunny, silly monkey

Challenges: waking in the middle of the night, waking early

6 months old!

Kaylee is 6 months old! I can't believe how quickly she is growing and changing. She is at such a fun age right now and is so interactive.

Stats: 14lbs 12oz (25%), 25.5 inches (30%), size 2 diapers, 3-6 and some 6 month clothes

Sleep: Kaylee is usually asleep by 8pm with her last feeding around 7:20pm. Lately, she has been waking up hangry at 6am! (Why so early?!)

Naps: Kaylee will predictably go down for a 45 minute crib nap after being awake for about an hour and a half in the morning. The next nap is tough and she usually waits until we get in the car to go to sleep. In the afternoon, it is very difficult to get her to nap but so necessary. The girl just doesn't like naps!

Eating: Kaylee still nurses 4-5 times per day. She still will not take a bottle from anyone but mom. She has tried a variety of foods and seems to like all of them if she is hungry enough. She has had Carrots, sweet potatoes, peaches, squash, avocado, applesauce, pears, prunes, oatmeal, peas, banana, watermelon on rind. Her favorites so far are squash and watermelon. She has had up to 10 cubes of food in one day!

Milestones: sitting up by herself, doing much better with spoon feeding, makes "ba" and "ma" sound, holds toys, plays peekaboo

Firsts: first time in church nursery (she did great!), first non-family babysitter

Favorites: fisher price playtime books, elephant book, Maggie, vibrating ball, wheel toy, being outside, peekaboo 

Challenges: refusing a bottle, naps, constipation (tmi!), being left with sitter while mom is at work

Like dad: morning person

Like mom: her laugh and looks

5 months old!

Kaylee is growing fast! She brings us so much joy (and is so exhausting!)

Stats: no doctor visit this month, 3-6 month clothes, just switched to size 2 diapers

Sleep: Kaylee sleeps from about 8:30 or 9pm until about 6:30am. She usually wakes herself up once in the middle of night by scooting from one end of the crib to he other and bumping her head in the corner. She also sometimes gets an arm or leg stuck 😀 haha

naps: always a struggle! I often have to put her in the car to get a nap.

Eating: Kaylee started the month nursing every 3 hours and then moved to every 3.5 hours (or 5 feedings per day).  She has now tried peaches, avocado, and sweet potato! She is doing great with a spoon but isn't always interested in eating. We are just starting with solids so I don't necessarily even offer everyday.

Milestones: starting solids, rolled from belly to back in crib a few times

Firsts: 4th of July, fireworks, trip to the outlets, solid foods, time in jumper

Favorites: Maggie, standing up, her mobile, teapot song, piggies, evening walks in stroller

Challenges: refusing to take a bottle, naps

Like dad: morning person

Like mom: stubborn? Passing on all my positive qualities...

Myrtle beach 2015

The annual family beach trip was moved to Myrtle Beach this year so that Kaylee could come. We made the 5 hour (ok 6) car ride to see everyone for the long weekend. Kaylee was only 3 months old but did great with a little entertainment from mom in the back seat.
